![]() When I got my unpatched switch, I tried RetroArch, one of the first versions available, and I only had my 2 joy-cons who came with the switch to play. Since Pi 2 doesn't have Wifi/bluetooth, I had 2 Dualshock 3 plugged with MiniUSB cables (25 feet, but still cables). Worked great, but GBA, PS1 and especially N64 was slow. I had a Pi 2 set with all my NES, SNES, Genesis, GB, Gamegear, etc., I even had a cute NesPi case. Switched (lol) from a Pi 2 to RA on the Switch myself. Minecraft it runs at 50 fps, which is perfect and also, it's a great way to have a home server as well, just switch out the sd card in the raspberry pi and voila, the handheld is now a minecraft server running on the home network. Unfortunately the raspberry pi dosnt have a too powerfull GPU, so when it comes to 3d games i've gotten games like prince of persia sands of time to run at 25 - 30 fps and same with original hitman and hitman 2. We have both raspberry pi 4 and switch and i'd argue i got most for my money with the raspberry pi 4, the switch is pretty much collecting dust as no games are interesting enough to pick up and the handheld system i made with the raspberry pi is just so much better, with longer batterylife (can literally last for days on full power), more playability and 1080p resolution ALSO on retro games through emulator. I really wanted the hardkernel x86 SBC to replace my aging x86 chromebox converted to kodi box/media player/etc.ĭon't know if you ever got the pi 4, but if you did you should check out TwisterOS, it makes almost any PC game (that the raspberry pi meets the requirement for in specs) playable. These are more expensive as you will have to supply RAM, storage, possibly the PSU but the perf is so much better. who knows buty other vendor also make x86 based SBCs as well, IIRC ASROCK had a line of them. hardkernel had a celeron(IIRC) SBC but they're having trouble sourcing the CPUs, and now. ![]() Still bottomline is any x86 will blow the doors right off an ARM based device. ![]() If you wanted a desktop setup, hardkernel has a bunch of SBCs w/better perf than any rpi although some of them you will pay more for. (There's a clone of the OGA as well, but.) Given the current situation, it's hard to say when they'll be able to run another batch, but IIRC they're stating mid July ATM. I saw a couple Canadian resellers claimed to have some v1.1 stock left, but direct and all US suppliers are OOS. emuelec distro.Īnalog stick, Dpad, ABXY, LR, 6 function buttons, L2R2(v1.1) and wifi builtin(v1.1) (10 pin GPIO) Most of the OSes are linux based, and many are ports of rpi versions e.g. (Odroid Go Advance, you'll want the v1.1 rev or newer) Well, if you're looking for portable, hardkernel has a handheld RK3326 based device w/a 320x480 screen, but only 1GB of RAM.
